WATCH the UPDATE: Family of Beavers in Vermont Saved Thanks to You
This summer, we celebrated a huge victory for animals and the environment in Orange County, Vermont: the successful installation of a Beaver Deceiver! Thanks to your generosity, a local family of beavers who were at risk of being trapped and killed can now remain safely in their home, continuing their important work of maintaining wetlands and healthy habitats.
We bet you’ve never seen one of these being built before!
Together with partners including Sage Mountain Botanical Sanctuary, Vermont Wildlife Patrol, Vermont River Conservancy, Vermont Wildlife Coalition, and other local advocates, we raised funds and joined on-site to help with the installation. With the approval of the Department of Transportation, Beaver Deceivers LLC installed an innovative flow device, which prevents culverts from clogging and roads from flooding while allowing beavers to thrive.

Our Wild Animals Campaign Specialist Katie Nolan was on hand to oversee the installation.
For this beaver family, the device means everything. Instead of facing painful deaths in underwater traps, they get to stay together in the wetland they steward. They can continue to raise their young, shaping habitats, and protecting countless other animals who depend on the habitats they create. Because of you, their future is one of safety, family, and freedom.

We are thrilled to share this success with you. This project would not have been possible without your donations and support, and it stands as a powerful example for other towns across Vermont and beyond. Thank you for helping us save this beaver family and show the world that coexistence works!
