New Ambulances Needed to Help Animals in India
There’s no shortage of animals in need of help in India, and while our partner IDA India’s rescue centers are always bustling, our ambulances also provide a critical lifeline for them, and right now need two new ones.
While our centers have a large capacity, there are always so many animals in need. Our ambulances allow us to treat animals with minor injuries and illnesses wherever they are.
Some are homeless and reported to us by compassionate people, while others have regular caretakers who want to find them help. Many of these animals are sick or injured and would suffer or die without our intervention.
We give animal caretakers follow-up medication, and if animals have no one to look after them, our mobile vet clinic team follows up until their patients have fully recovered. Not only can helping them in areas familiar to them reduce their stress, it helps ensure we have room to admit serious cases.
However, our fleet of ambulances is used extensively, helping more than 100 animals monthly, and the wear and tear takes its toll.
We’re currently fundraising to buy two new ones to replace ones that need to be retired; one for our Deonar Center in Mumbai and one for our Panvel Center in Navi Mumbai, which we estimate will cost approximately $22,700.
We’ll be purchasing the frames and having the rest custom-built to ensure these two vehicles have everything we need to treat animals or transport them to the appropriate center.
