MEDIA RELEASE: $2,000 Reward for Apprehension of Woman Who Drowned Dog in Airport Toilet

CLERMONT, Fla. (October 7, 2025) — In Defense of Animals is matching the $1,000 reward the Clermont Police Department is offering for tips leading to the arrest of Alison Lawrence, who was charged with animal cruelty after allegedly killing her dog in the bathroom at the Orlando International Airport.

Lawrence was arrested by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, but resided in the jurisdiction of the Clermont Police Department.

Last December, Lawrence drowned her dog Tywinn in an airport bathroom after being denied entry to an international flight over improper paperwork to travel with a dog. A necropsy conducted by a veterinarian at the University of Florida determined he had been intentionally drowned.

Lawrence was identified by items left behind, including dog gear, a collar, rabies tag, companion vest, and dog travel bag.

Lawrence was arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty and tampering with evidence. She failed to appear in court on September 5 and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.

In Defense of Animals sent the Office of the State Attorney a letter with 11,998 signatures supporting the maximum sentencing for Lawrence and a mandate ordering that she not engage with animals in any manner for the time allowed by law.

“In Defense of Animals is asking the community to report any information leading to the apprehension of Agatha Alison Lawrence for her violent and unthinkable betrayal of Tywinn. An individual who could determine their only option in her circumstance was to kill her dog must be held accountable,” said In Defense of Animals’ Justice for Animals Senior Campaigner Doll Stanley.
